Campaign Ad-watch: “stop Talking” About Energy And Do Something
The latest ad from Tom Udall is on a familiar issue: energy. Though gas prices are not at their peak, they are still prohibitively high, as anyone who drives (in other words, nearly all New Mexicans) can attest. So what can be done?
Tom Udall’s ad says something that I have heard him say at numerous campaign events: We need to do it all. Offshore drilling, nuclear, alternative energies, Udall says we have to explore all options.
The ad says Udall thinks we need “Increased domestic oil production including offshore, invest a lot more in alternative energy and stop hedge fund speculators from driving up the price of oil.”
Udall ends the ad as he has in nearly of his all ads: with himself talking to the camera.
“I’m Tom Udall and I approve this message because we need to stop talking about energy independence and start doing something about it.”
The ad is a direct shot across the bow that Udall is a “radical environmentalist” as I have heard him described by some Republicans. He instead shows what he believes needs to be done. And doing something is something that New Mexicans filling over $3.50 per gallon for gas at the pump every week desperately need.
Oh, and you dispute something the ad says? Check the fact sheet (pdf) that the campaign has available on their website in addition to the ad.
